Contemporary studies in neuroscience and psychiatry have demonstrated the profound capacity of mindfulness practices to deal with stress and overwhelm, and cultivate vitality, compassion, and happiness. However, it is hard to know where to start with mindfulness, and to find the space and time to commit to this wonderful but at times challenging practice. In this course, we will explore and practice foundational exercises in mindfulness, such as walking and sitting meditation, body awareness scans, visualisations, as well as deep listening meditations accompanied by Tibetan Singing Bowls and other instruments of sound therapy. Each class will involve 2-3 short mindfulness exercises, and there will be opportunity to reflect on and discuss your experiences.
